WASHINGTONCongresswoman Richardson Made the Following Statement Today After Learning that the Senate-House Conference Committee Agreed to Include Funding for the C-17

Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Laura Richardson made the following statement today after learning that the Senate-House Conference Committee agreed to include $2.2 billion for the C-17.  The Congresswoman had multiple face-to-face meetings with Defense Appropriations Chairman John Murtha and authored a bipartisan letter from over 60 Members of the House of Representatives urging President Obama to support the C-17.

“I applaud the Senate-House Conference Committee for concurring with our House work to include $2.2 billion in funding for eight Boeing C-17 aircrafts.  I have led the fight on behalf of the 5,000 employees in Long Beach and 30,000 jobs nation-wide to keep the C-17 line running and I will continue to pursue the intention of our constitution which is to maintain a strong legislative branch that gives us the ability to preserve the last American built cargo airlift plane.”
